Rhythm Kids is the next musical step for your preschool and early elementary children with a parent or caregiver. Each week, we drum, sing, dance, play rhythm instruments and begin to play music-based games. Rhythm Kids guides children toward developmentally appropriate music and movement activities, where they can begin to take charge, lead others and by musically creative as they:

In addition to our ourdoor classes, we currently offer Rhythm Kids Online via Zoom! Have concerns about screentime? Here’s what we know. When children stare at a screen and passively receive information, they don't take it in the same way as face-to-face interactions. That's not what we want, nor what we intend for your child's experience and development. Screentime can be effective and beneficial to your child's learning when you're right there with them, actively participating, engaging, and learning, too. We know why - because YOU are the most important ingredient in your child's music development! When you immerse in the experience with your child, interacting with your teacher online, and each other in your home, using computers, screens, and devices can be a wonderful tool for learning. The Voice, The Body & The Drum
Although we typically bring African djembe drums to class, Rhythm Kids is way more than just a drumming class as our main focus is to develop rhythm using the voice, the body and the instrument. Classes include singing, movement, rhythm activities, games, improvisation, and drumming patterns. Children learn and experience the drum patterns in chant form first and then transfer that learning into drumming and movement, some of which is based on traditional folk dance. Classes include activities and instrument play that allow children to create and express themselves through music and movement, multicultural rhythm patterns (patterns based on cultural music), songs from around the world and music-based games and activities.
About the Rhythms
Rhythm Kids is a three-year curriculum and the rhythm patterns taught in our classes are adapted from cultures all around the world including; Ghana, Puerto Rico, Morocco, Mali, Guinea, Columbia, Senegal, Nigeria and many others. The benefits of music in a child's life are long lasting and we hope our classes will bring music and happiness to your child, to your family and to your community for many, many years!
